This weekend, I am celebrating pop culture and taking a break from more rigorous forms of discourse by renting a classic selection from a staple in American Cinema: the horror film. As much as I enjoy those films as a genre, my actual list of ones I've watched is meager. So, I am going to pick one of the following (assuming both are in) and will watch them with Capria and our buddy Max.
So, which, dear readers, of these to films do you recommend?
OR
My choice is (at least somewhat) in your hands.
Posted by pjaussen at January 28, 2005 12:38 PMI'd start off w/ the Nightmare on Elm Street series - the series makes for some fun viewing where you all you can do is sit back and say, "how the heck did a school bus get out in the desert w/ a big Freddy snake chasing it?" Friday the 13th is another great choice b/c all the movies follow the exact same pattern...so it's fun to sit there and yell at the people in the movie "NO, don't go have sex in that bed!!" But, you have to watch all of both series before you watch Jason v. Freddy otherwise you won't understand it and think it's dumb. Trevor, Baptist, and I went through them on summer, each week renting 1 of each series...very good times. That is my untrained, unsophisticated movie suggestion.
Posted by: timmy at January 31, 2005 08:36 PMA staple of the American Horror movie is, of course, "Don't go have sex in THAT bed." I suppose besides the metaphysical impossibilities, the moral reasoning (and practical reasoning) in these films leaves a bit to be desired.
